Here’s a look at how our contacts’ ministry in Philadelphia has evolved through becoming a family.

“There are many stories of how the Kensington neighborhood of Philadelphia have impacted our lives. One is by a single, young lady who had fallen in love with Jesus and reached out to the people of the area. Another is about a young man sinking deeper into the dark life of drug addiction until he was reached by the Lord and started pursuing a life for Christ. Those stories are ours, the Varasos, Elizabeth and Frank.
Our ministry had begun at different times in our lives, but since getting married 6 years ago the dynamic of ministry has changed. What has had even more of an impact on our ministry was the arrival of our first born child almost 4 years ago. We had great relationships with all of the kids that lived around us. There was just this blockage from most of the parents. We didn’t have much interaction with them at all. They would send their kids with us with hardly any resistance. They would knock on our door to ask for various items they needed like batteries or a VCR so they could watch their father who sent them a video from prison, but besides that they would hardly look our way.

It wasn’t until we had our daughter Selah that everything changed much to our surprise and delight. These parents who seemed to not want much to do with us were all of a sudden talking to us, (sometimes)joining in the planned activities with the children, coming into our home and allowing us into their homes. What a big difference and a huge blessing to us. We now have 3 children and open dialogue with these parents who even come to us for counsel. Good stuff happening on Fletcher St.!!!!!”

Isn’t amazing how God can use a family to impact other families?

In the same way, God can use YOUR family this summer to continue to impact the Kensington area of Philadelphia.
